European Schools Project

The 10th conference of the European Schools Project (ESP) will be held in Leuven (Belgium) from March 22nd till 26th in the morning.

It will take place in the Maria-Theresia college of the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, which is located in the center of the city.

Over the years these annual meetings, (taking place in Großburgwedel, Copenhagen, Lenham, Toledo, Schwerte, Amsterdam and Cambridge), were appreciated by all teachers and other educators who could attend. Although it is called a conference, its main objectives are to be an educators’ meeting and an evaluation opportunity to review completed and on-going projects and to design new ones for the next academic year.

The participants of ES P are connected by telematjcs throughout the year, but the personal face-to-face contacts have proven to be an important extra and very valuable element for designing successful curriculum collaborations.

The 1996 conference will be the 10th conference and will be held at Leuven in Belgium (25 km east of Brussels) from Friday March 22nd until Tuesday 26th in the morning. The conference will take place in the Maria-Theresja college of the Katholieke Universeiteit Leuven, Situated in the centre of the city.

During the conference, computers with full Internet access will be available on site for the participants

The programme for the conference will this year emphasize the use of the resources of the World Wide Web (WWW) within the School environment and within ESP. The educational use of the WWW is still in its infancy but evolving rapidly.

The WWW opens another dimension for communication between schools. Therefore some speakers have been invited who are in continuous contact with this changing world. Also a lot of work is already going on for using the WWW for the administrative tasks involved in keeping track of all projects.

This will hopefully result in operational forms and programs to be introduced at the conference. In addition many issues related to the ESP, strategies to follow, Cooperation with other international School networks, will be discussed.
